Privacy policy

Last updated: 9 July 2026

Folio is a local-first audiobook library application operated by Folio. This policy explains what Folio accesses, what stays on your device, and how optional online features use third-party APIs and services.

What Folio accesses

Folio can access audiobook folders and app-owned files that you choose. On Android, folder scanning may require storage access. This access is used to find audio files, read supported metadata, create library indexes, save playback progress, and display covers. Folio does not sell your library or use it for advertising.

Data that stays on your device

Your local audio files, folder paths, library database, playback position, bookmarks, settings, scan fingerprints, and generated metadata remain on your device unless you explicitly enable a feature that sends selected data elsewhere. App-owned cached files can be removed from Folio settings or by uninstalling the app.

Third-party APIs and optional online features

Folio uses third-party APIs only when you choose a feature that needs them. Those providers process the request data needed to provide their service and may receive standard network information, such as your IP address.

Sharing and sale

Folio does not sell personal information or share your local library for advertising. Optional third-party services receive only the requests, account data, metadata, or files needed for the feature you activate.

Security, retention, and deletion

OAuth credentials are stored using the platform secure-storage facility where supported. Data stored by Folio remains until you remove it, clear the app, uninstall Folio, disconnect an optional service, or request help. To disconnect Google Drive, use Folio’s Drive settings and revoke access from your Google account. To request deletion of data held by Folio, contact Folio using the public GitHub issue tracker linked below; include no private files or credentials.

Children

Folio is not directed to children under 13. Do not use Folio to upload or share a child’s personal information through optional online services.

Contact
